Looking to get feedback and keep workflow going smoothly. Will try and keep both Itch and Discord updated with new ideas and progress.
Using Unity's 2D engine and coding in C# using my strong points to bring an experience of game mechanics to a simple laid back shooter.
Unique gun play with upgradable skills to control and tame your weapons.
Ability to spend your skill points where you want it towards the path you want to take.
All skills have 3 upgrades to give you more choices in where to spend them.
All images are obviously subject to change. Everything is still in a prototype situation.
Future of untitled game
Well this is the real reason why I'm putting this all out there now. Get feedback on the direction I should move in and getting a grasp on what you players want. There is no point in working myself to make something only I will be playing. Now with heaps of ideas I want to move forward in. I'm going to focus on polish while I have something playable before moving on the next big feature.
After polishing these are the next features I want to start having a look at and getting prototypes out:
- Better AI system - At the moment its running a very basic AI script that I've put together that "sees target - go to target" approach. I will be looking into the A* AI system and integrating it into my AIs pathfinding.
- CQC and Melee - So far I have only focused on the gun side of the weapons. Yes melee will be in the game but I need to prototype a few ideas to see what one will work with everything else including the skill system.
- RougeLike Systems - Map generation is a big one. I have worked with procedural map generation before but not on this scale nor have they been used before. I need one that will work with the games aesthetics.
Before you play, a little about this game:
As from this date this "game" has been on and off for over 6 months. Started as a prototype on what I wanted to make. A 2D true top down shooter. But it wasn't always just a shooter. With a more RPG element this was meant to be a more open world "set your own path" type of game. As like all other game development once I started that's when mu scope for this game got smaller. Focusing on something that is easy to prototype will make easier to copy into another project and start the RPG journey from there. I have been in multiple game jams and have always enjoyed putting something out there and breathing in that good feeling you get when you do. While those game jams (especially Endless RockFormation) are great to continue upon I also don't want to take away with what I've done in such a sort time. The limitation is what breeds creativity. So every once in a while I will work on this 2D project with different ideas that I want to try and learn more about. I'm hoping to keep this updated and will always try and keep working on it.
